Yesterday was mothersday here in Sweden. I have had computer issues, and so I post this a day late.
This is my mother. My beloved mother! It is hard to pick the words to best describe her. It would be a very long post.
All I´ll say is  ;" Mamma! THANK you, from the bottom of my heart, for being just exactly the way you are throughout the years! for doing your very best being a mother of three very complicated girls! ;)  Honestly, although things where hard at times, I would not want to change a thing from my childhood! And You and dad are the reason for that!
Thank you mom, for praising God in the kitchen. For praying intensly during hard times. For teaching me about Jesus since the very very beginning of my life. I even remember us having a deep conversation about prayers when i was around 5 years old.
And another thing I remember is you playing records of Keith Green alot! oddly enough, these songs has since childhood kept coming back to me. I have listened to these songs numerous times and found strenght in them. Especially throughout my teens.
There is one song I especially remember you playing. I listened to it again last night, and wanted to play it for you here.

Mamma. jag älskar dig!

In alot of blogs today, people mention the royal wedding. I wasn´t going to write a post about that. But then, I thought. Why not post a little wedding something anyways. Here are some thoughts around my own almost 9 years ago...

Easter came and easter went. It was a very laid back holiday, calm and nice and one of contemplation. Good Friday, me and my sister went to church and listened to the Easter story. It made me yet again so amazed by what God himself did for us!
Saturday, we colored eggs (mostly my mom and sister, as Micah showed very little interest in it and Josh was out of town). We had a visit or two from the "Easter witches". This is a Swedish tradition you can read about here . It is horrible in my world. ( but the children are sweet as ever )
What you see in the picture above is another tradition. Twigs from birches taken inside and put in water so their little leaves bloom. And then decorations such as feathers and little ornaments are hung in them.

Easter Sunday, celebrating the resurection of Christ, we gathered together at my mother´s place (with a visit from my cousin and auntie ) and had...eh..candy,candy and... candy. and then some cupcakes made by my little sister.
Picture
We didn´t really have a proper easter dinner this year, but for sure we had some of those beautifully colored eggs!
Picture
And so today, I cleaned away Easter. I threw away the twigs and put Micah´s chicken in his memorybox. And now, I´m sitting here "cleaning away" the rest of the candy,(someone has to do it), with the scent of lilacs filling the air. (I got a yankee candle as an easter present from the "American" easterbunny. a.k.a my sister and mother in law!  It happens to be my all time favorite flower :)
But the best of gifts I could ever, EVER recieve, is the one of the salvation through my savior, Jesus Christ!
I´m linking up to communal global for the first time today :)

Birthday Boy. Mr K.O. Glifberg
Last weekend, like I said in my previous blogpost, we went down to Höganäs (Skania) to celebrate my grandfathers 90th birthday!
Me, my mom, my youngest sister Sarah and Micah took the train. 5 hours and 45 minutes ..and I guess the trip went ok. I guess. For some reason it seemed like the travelling all the way to Boise with him was easier, But I think I might have just been extra tired. I don´t know.
Nonetheless, we got there and we stayed at a hostel and met up with family! And all my cousins! It was so so great to see them all again! ( it does not happen very often)

The party on saturday was so nice! And so well planned and put together by everyone who was involved in that! Great Job!!

I found out a lot about my granfathers life that I had not known before, or was too young/uninterested to pay any real attention to.(My uncle had put a slideshow together and was telling stories from that) Oh My , what an interesting life! I found out also ( wich, when I think hard about it , I might remember) that my grandpa had/has a big interest in photography!! :)

I´ll end this post with a picture of Micah kissing Domino. My dear cousin Esther´s pup!
And a big Thank you everyone who made this party such a nice day!

Yeah, so like I said, we had my sister and her fiance´here last weekend. (and now, it is the weekend again pretty soon I just realized!!)
We just hung out, which is quite enough for me really. Again, they brought with them lots of meat, all kinds, that Lars cooked for us. ( Lars´family likes to go hunting, so there is always lots of meat in their freezer. )
We had moose, boar, and something else...Lars wasn´t quite sure...but it was tasty..lol!

And here are two photos I just wanted to share, because, the first one of Micah is so cute (nooo! really?). He played dress-out with all of our gloves, hats and mittens. He did this all by himself.
And the second one, I just have to show my awesome hat I found at the mall in Boise. (I cannot for my life remember the name of the store, but it was neat).

I heart my hat!
the funny thing about this photo of myself, is that I was being to lazy to set up a tripod, and so I thought I was smart to bring the camera in front of the mirror (watching the live-view in the mirror while aiming). I do not know why I even ended uo taking this  photo this way...as I must have had a brain fart and forgotten that I have no live-view on my camera!!! ( I have had this camera for a year )

Micah and his nana
Time flies, and I found myself avoiding to blog... Because this post had to be about what happened next. After Christmas. And it was hard. I know I´m often a Drama Queen, and I am often so full of my current emotions that it consumes me for a while. So just beare with me.

We had a great New years! Full of laughter and early to bed! ( what better way to start a new year than to sleep?)
Time went so quickly and all of a sudden it was january 3:rd, and we had to go home...Or back...or whatever. (Half of my family and friends are in Boise so I have to call that home too.)
The way back wasn´t as easy as the way there! I bawled throughout the security checkpoint, and simply couldn´t stop!, Micah hadn´t slept well that night so he was tired to begin with, and during that 10 hour flight (when everyone else slept) he had tantrums and he couldn´t calm down because he was simply too tired. But even so, I have to say that my son is a trooper when it comes to travelling. The 2 hour flight to San Fransisco he was super! The 5 hour lay over there he was super! But then he had had it! (I don´t blame him). The last flight from Frankfurt he slept. And in the car ride home he tried so hard to be good! I´m not too scared of travelling with him again!

We had such a wonderful time! I Loved seeing Micah reading with his Nana and playing with his auntie! I Loved seeing him trying to impress and being "cool" for his Grampa! And I miss everyone so much!

We came back home to a well filled fridge, cookies on the table, and hanging in the window was three big gingerbread hearts with our names on them. One for each of us!  And to snow! Lots and lots of snow! It´s pretty! But it´s cold!

I feel so blessed having had the time with my family in Boise! I feel blessed having met old friends again, even if it was short. i feel blessed having met new friends, and feeling so welcomed in every new situation I found myself in!  The year of 2010 couldn´t have had a better ending!

I Hope everyone had a great Christmas We had, for sure!. We had good, good food. Micah was (mostly) happy. And we all got spoiled rotten with gifts!
Picture
presents everywhere
Christmas Eve, we loaded up the car with food and goodies and went over to Grama Great for food, fun and some present opening. After that we headed home to open the rest of our gifts ( after Micah had gone to bed ). Christmas day was all about great food, family and more presents! And while I took a nap, the rest of the "gang" went to the park for a walk. Food, family and a nap...what more can you ask for on a Christmas Day ;)

Merry Christmas

It is the night before Christmas Eve, and I´m sitting in bed, trying to type ever so quietly to not wake the boy up. Just checking in here to share some pictures. Today was such a nice day! Although we have had fun going places and seeing people, just being around the house together today, doing nothing but this and that to prepare for christmas, was really relaxing. And it made me have time to feel that it actually is Christmas again! We walked in the park, we found an Elmo for Micah´s stocking, and we had coffee! Ahhh, the to-go-Mochas we have together are just a delight!

And so, like I said, it is Christmas again, and I would like to remind every single one of my friends and my family how much you all mean to me! I Love you all So much!!! And please, let us remember why we get to celebrate Christmas in the first place! Because of CHRIST! Let us be thankful for everything He blesses us with. This Christmas and throughout the year!
( these are not just ment to be pretty words! Lets try to remember it even when we don´t feel that happy).

I better go blow out that candle sittin on the dresser, and then go to bed! So it´s time to say Good Night and :

Helping Nana in the kitchen

This past week ,we have been keeping busy. We had a dinnerparty at Josh´s aunts house. It was good food and wine, lots of chatting and much laughter! I met a few familymembers that I hadn´t yet had the chance to ever meet before.
It was a great time! Micah loved it too, and he spent that whole evening playing with his grampa.
On our way home, we stopped to look at some amazing Christmaslights that we found on the way .
We also went to the farmers market down town on saturday. Very cozy with the streets filled with different kinds of foods and crafts!

It seems like everyone we meet or visit has their arms opened for us, new friends and old. Everyone is so nice and welcoming! Everyone is making sure we feel at home, and that we get the most out of our stay! That just makes me smile! Thank You! :)

Christmas Miracles

ok. Here I am again. a bit later than I planned, but here is my update on things.
We arrived in Boise a week ago in the evening. Remember how nervous I was about traveling that many hours with a toddler ? Well, I should´nt have been. Micah was excellent! The boy that never sits still actually did. This time for over 20 hours!  He loved going on the airplane. He loved taking off and landing. And in between he just played a bit, ate, slept, and watched mini cartoons on the built-in TV in the seat! Thank God for technology sometimes ;)
Of course, there was a few meltdowns, but that´s just comes with the deal hey?!. And they where not bad. In fact, Josh and I said to each other that this time, flying over here felt like the shortest one we ever had.

Arriving, Mom/Nana, auntie Amos, "bampa" (grampa), and Cynthia met us in the arriving area. It was just like it had been yesterday we met last. Thanks to skype, Micah knows his Nana and auntie really well, and he didn´t seem to think it was any different to see them outside of the "box"/computer! He wondered off with Amy to check things out while we where trying to figure out where our one suitcases could be. We got our ones with our clothes, but the one filled with all the Christmas gifts was gone! So we just had to wait and see if we would get it eventually, or if maybe it was stolen, and we would never see it again...I was very very sad about this! But. Christmas miracle number one had already happened. Our safe trip! Something to really be thankful for!

This past week, we have been up to alot! Seeing family and friends, going to the zoo, going to Mom and Amy´s  wonderful church and meeting some of my blog readers there ( I really loved seeing you guys!!)  and most important of all, just having the everyday life going on together. Having meals together, laughing, and playing.

Monday afternoon Josh and I left Micah with Nana and auntie to go have a mini-honeymoon at  the Anniversary Inn. ( we never really had one, although we have been married for 8 years). I knew we where going there, but the theme of the room was a surprise. ( their rooms are all different themes and there is not one alike).
I opened the door and it was the Hollywood Suite!! It was just plain awesome! Josh had extra ordered rose petals spread on the floor, and there was a soda machine with as many refills as you liked ! A big screen TV, a fabulous bed, and a hot tub big enough for both of us! We spent the afternoon in the tub, reading our magazines and drinking Dr Pepper! What a wonderful day and night that was! Thank you my sweet Josh for that! And thank you mom and Amy for watching Micah!

Oh, and Christmas miracle number 2...Our suitcase was left at the doorstep late tuesday evening!

To end this post, I would like to thank everyone that has been and still are with us in praying for a safe trip, the finding of the lost suitcase, and our stay here!
See you again soon!

    Me

Hi, I'm Dana.  I'm a Swede, married to an American, and mother of one little boy.  I have just entered my 3rd decade and I'm just beginning to find out who I am.  It's an ongoing process, really.  To help, I have my Lord Jesus by my side.  I think He must have a lot of patience.

I love coffee, photography, corduroy, and rag rugs.  You'll probably find those things here--after all, this blog is a little of my everyday life.  A journal of sorts, it's also where I document my journey in photography.

ps. I´m sorry about the grammar and miss spellings you might find here, but remember, English is my second language ;)
