monster teeth 09/02/2011
There are some things that just makes me chuckle. And here is one... I happen to love teeth. (yes I´m a nerd) If you remember this post , you´ll know why. When Josh came home yesterday after visiting my sister and her man, she had sent this guy with for me! Seriously! He just makes me laugh out loud!! ( I will never ever grow up in some ways) . Now, I´ll wish you all a happy weekend, with lots of love / me 2 Comments a colorful day in B&W 05/25/2011
Last week, The area we live in, had something called "preschool day". It was all the preschools gathered together for a show, each school having their own little performance. And how lucky are we that the stage they where at, is just in our "backyard" :) Around 9.30 on thursday, there was a looong line of kids walking in to the park, while music was playing. Wonderful to see! Then the show began. It was only the older kids of each school performing ( for the best I think. Toddlers together on a stage with microphones might not be a great idea) But all the smaller children was sitting right by the stage watching ! It was a great show!!! Seeing those kids up there was just made my heart smile!!! And all the proud families watching was also a joy to see! Here are some photos from that day. Easter Preparations 04/20/2011
Easter... Eggs, chickens, bunnys, candy, food...It all means nothing to me compared to the biggest celebration of them all! - the one of Christ´s death and ressurection. But gathering together around all of these traditions, are a great way to celebrate with family and friends. (if not the true meaning is lost). So here, we are preparing for easter both in our spirits, and the traditional decorating. Above, is the most beautiful decoration I have ever had! Micah made it all himself ( with instructions) at preschool yesterday! :) 90 03/03/2011
Last weekend, like I said in my previous blogpost, we went down to Höganäs (Skania) to celebrate my grandfathers 90th birthday! Me, my mom, my youngest sister Sarah and Micah took the train. 5 hours and 45 minutes ..and I guess the trip went ok. I guess. For some reason it seemed like the travelling all the way to Boise with him was easier, But I think I might have just been extra tired. I don´t know. Nonetheless, we got there and we stayed at a hostel and met up with family! And all my cousins! It was so so great to see them all again! ( it does not happen very often) The party on saturday was so nice! And so well planned and put together by everyone who was involved in that! Great Job!! I found out a lot about my granfathers life that I had not known before, or was too young/uninterested to pay any real attention to.(My uncle had put a slideshow together and was telling stories from that) Oh My , what an interesting life! I found out also ( wich, when I think hard about it , I might remember) that my grandpa had/has a big interest in photography!! :) I´ll end this post with a picture of Micah kissing Domino. My dear cousin Esther´s pup! And a big Thank you everyone who made this party such a nice day! Christmas Miracles 12/15/2010
ok. Here I am again. a bit later than I planned, but here is my update on things. We arrived in Boise a week ago in the evening. Remember how nervous I was about traveling that many hours with a toddler ? Well, I should´nt have been. Micah was excellent! The boy that never sits still actually did. This time for over 20 hours! He loved going on the airplane. He loved taking off and landing. And in between he just played a bit, ate, slept, and watched mini cartoons on the built-in TV in the seat! Thank God for technology sometimes ;) Of course, there was a few meltdowns, but that´s just comes with the deal hey?!. And they where not bad. In fact, Josh and I said to each other that this time, flying over here felt like the shortest one we ever had. Arriving, Mom/Nana, auntie Amos, "bampa" (grampa), and Cynthia met us in the arriving area. It was just like it had been yesterday we met last. Thanks to skype, Micah knows his Nana and auntie really well, and he didn´t seem to think it was any different to see them outside of the "box"/computer! He wondered off with Amy to check things out while we where trying to figure out where our one suitcases could be. We got our ones with our clothes, but the one filled with all the Christmas gifts was gone! So we just had to wait and see if we would get it eventually, or if maybe it was stolen, and we would never see it again...I was very very sad about this! But. Christmas miracle number one had already happened. Our safe trip! Something to really be thankful for! This past week, we have been up to alot! Seeing family and friends, going to the zoo, going to Mom and Amy´s wonderful church and meeting some of my blog readers there ( I really loved seeing you guys!!) and most important of all, just having the everyday life going on together. Having meals together, laughing, and playing. Monday afternoon Josh and I left Micah with Nana and auntie to go have a mini-honeymoon at the Anniversary Inn. ( we never really had one, although we have been married for 8 years). I knew we where going there, but the theme of the room was a surprise. ( their rooms are all different themes and there is not one alike). I opened the door and it was the Hollywood Suite!! It was just plain awesome! Josh had extra ordered rose petals spread on the floor, and there was a soda machine with as many refills as you liked ! A big screen TV, a fabulous bed, and a hot tub big enough for both of us! We spent the afternoon in the tub, reading our magazines and drinking Dr Pepper! What a wonderful day and night that was! Thank you my sweet Josh for that! And thank you mom and Amy for watching Micah! Oh, and Christmas miracle number 2...Our suitcase was left at the doorstep late tuesday evening! To end this post, I would like to thank everyone that has been and still are with us in praying for a safe trip, the finding of the lost suitcase, and our stay here! See you again soon! day after tomorrow 12/06/2010
We are getting there! We are packing up, getting ready to leave early wednesday morning. To be more precise ,4 am in the morning. The flight doesn´t leave til 9 am but with the winter roads and having to be at the check-in as early as possible, we just thought we had better be safe! Our faithful friend Jerry will drive us to the airport! ( I´m very thankful)!!! We´ll be having our first stop in New York, the second one in Denver and from there we´ll go to Boise! So on wednesday evening (Boise time. about 5 am thursday morning for you Swedes) we will be hugging our mom/nana/mom-in-law and sister/auntie/sis-in-law! What a Christmas miracle! I´ll be updating this blog and try to upload pictures too. Please pray for our trip ( Micah is still having a bad cough, and we are not all well yet, but not misarable either) and our staying there! Just how blessed are we...that He would again provide for us to see our other half of the family, when we are so far apart, and when we so need it! I am just so so thankful! So very thankful! (Thank you Jesus)!! see you from the States next time:) sweet moments 11/28/2010
Today is first of advent. Already! Again! the countdown to christmas has begun. Long time since last post. The days start and before I know it , they are over. And no blogging happened. We got sick. A throatinfection of some sort. And I have been trying to stay on top of things with the going to the US in just 10 days! T E N !!! I cannot for my life believe that in ten days we will be in my mother and sister -in-laws house again! I can already smell it! ( sounds weird, but what I ment was that their house always smells so wonderful! Like home!) And Micah will be able to hug, kiss and play with his nana and auntie! Well, I can´t believe it still. I´m nervous about the trip itself. (going for 22 hours with a 2-yearold ya know) And about getting everything ready to leave. (and about everything else) hahaha. But I know, once we are there....sigh....it will be so so ...wonderful! Speaking of wonderful! Friday, My mom´s brother came over with his family ( lacking one of my sweet cousins though). We don´t see eachother very often, although we live not very far away (sigh...things like that needs to be changed). But it was truly really great to see them again! So so much laughter and memories! My cousins are Amazing! Beautiful and such sweet sweet young women! ( Esther, I hope to see you very soon too) Actually, there was something that happened that ment more to me than I ever expected such thing to do! See, when wee where little, very little, My uncle Bernhard used to put us in his arms and "drive" us around ,pretending to be a car (motor and all). We would laugh hysterically and beg for "one more time"! But that was like I said, a looong time ago. However, this time he did that same thing with Micah! And that was just the strangest feeling! It ment so so much to me to see that! Perhaps maybe because my own dad is no longer alive, and Micah never will get to do things with him that he did with us. It doesn´t matter why. It was a moment to treasure! Such a silly thing really...hahha...it made my day!! lookalikes 11/02/2010
I took a picture of Micah today when he was trying on hats! When I looked at it later as I was fiddling a bit with it, I saw how much he looks like Josh! ( I have seen it before ofcourse, but look at the two of theese pictures and you´ll see what I mean! first snow 10/22/2010
Now, there are only a few leaves left on the mable tree outside our apartmentbuilding. They are still green, because this year was one of those years the leaves didn´t change color until they had already fallen down. And this morning as I looked out our bedroom window I saw this: The first snow for the season. And although we had such a loooong and very very cold and snowy winter last year, and to that a very late spring, It felt kinda cozy to see the snow again. It was not much and it melted during the day, but anyways..It reminded me that soon it will be december and christmas yet again. And guess what we are doing for christmas this year.?!? (here comes one of the huge gifts that God always seem to give in the perfect time) We get to go to the USA and visit Josh´s family!!!!!!! We get to spend the holidays with Micah´s beloved nana and auntie, and Micah finally finally gets to meet his grampa and all our dear friends and family!!! A blessing! Indeed!, a blessing!!! So snow! You are welcome! Because it brings me joy to think of our plans for this season! mini vacation 09/15/2010
Okay, So here is a bit about last weekend and the mini-mommyvacation cruise I took with my cousin. We got a ride to Stockholm with Fridas´ fiance´ (Marcus), and while he was going to work there, we stayed with little baby Lova in Marcus´dads apartment over the day. Then he came back late afternoon to stay there over night with Lova while we went on our cruise. It was the first time for Frida to be away from Lova over night. It felt a bit weird for her, but we where so excited to go. And see, you know just how we went? To the ship/ferry I mean..? well, in a LIMO!!! Yep yep!, Marcus´dad has a Limosine-service and He set up for us to go in one of them! How sweet! How awesome! Who would have thought I would ever go in a limo?? Who could picture Dana in a limo?? (hahaha...yeah, I´m not the type for it really). First we where super excited. Then...we looked at ourselves..Jeans, t-shirts, sneakers and me, with a sportsbag in very blue and yellow saying SWEDEN all over it! And we thought of the sight it would be for everyone looking at us getting out of that huge car! We decided to try not to care though. Just to pretend to be great sports stars or something. Yes..there where staring I can tell you! :) We got our ship at 7.30 pm and off we went1 by that time we were starving, so we decided to head for the restaurants right away! We went for the Grill house, but they were booked full, so our option was the cafeteria (naaahh...not this time please) or the little more expensive Russian restaurant. Oh, I´m so glad the Grill house was full! It was so Lovely to sit in that russian restaurant , having some good whine, chatting and eating. We had the "sword of the Tzar" which was a sword looking knife with lamb, oxfile´and boar on it! With that, baked vegetables! YUUUM!! After food, we just hung out, looked in the tax-free shops, bought some gifts and took it easy! We watched people dancing, laughing and making fools out of themselves at the karaoke bar! (fools, mainly because most of them had enough to drink to think that they actually sounded good, when they maybe didn´t so very..eh..much) It got late and we headed for bed. We layed there chatting just like we used to when we where growing up together. And then we got rocked to bed by the waves. The ship arrived in Finland sometime during the night, and then turned around to Sweden again. (it´s just a mini-cruise, you go for the going itself, not going somewhere). Morning came with my favorite part! Breakfast!!! We had a special breakfast with cakes and we even saw champagne. But I just had bread, eggs and cereal. (really, that´s what I wanted!! lol) We didn´t have any plans for the day so after eating we went to "sleep in" a bit more! (I think we both needed that, but especially Frida having a 5-moth old baby). The rest of the day was just shopping, and sitting on the deck for hours with our coffee! aahh!!! We arrived back in Stockholm in the evening and Marcus and Lova met us there and we headed home! That was it! That is what we did! It may not seem like all that much , but I did so enjoy it! Most of all I enjoyed being just us! Stuck at sea and "forced" to have fun! I enjoyed my company, chatting away like old times. I Enjoyed just beeing then and there! (Oh, and an exciting sidenote: Marcus´dad had let me pick out a bottle of champagne from his "collection". Because it´s soon my 30-th birthday, and this trip was a gift to me from Frida. I´ll save it though for me and Josh´s upcoming 8-year wedding day.) Now, the only question I have is- Why do people insist on singing "My Heart Will Go On" everytime they stand out on the deck with the wind blowing in their face?? | MeHi, I'm Dana. I'm a Swede, married to an American, and mother of one little boy. I have just entered my 3rd decade and I'm just beginning to find out who I am. It's an ongoing process, really. To help, I have my Lord Jesus by my side. I think He must have a lot of patience. Categories:All sponsoring :
